Despite more injury woes Bromley picked up a vital three points in their debut League One season, with a superb battling display against Huddersfield Town at Hayes Lane on Saturday afternoon.
Lining up 4-5-1 The Ravens got off to a great start putting The Terriers under pressure and they took the lead on 8 minutes when Mitchell Pinnock’s corner was headed home by JJ McKiernan.
Huddersfield came into things from there, Bali Mumba crossing for Marcus Harness who was denied by a great save from Owen Mason and then had his effort from the rebound blocked.
Harness had another shot saved by Mason soon after and then from a dangerous Cameron Humphreys, Bromley keeper was injured along with McKiernan who had to go off.
The Terriers kept pressing from there and Bromley then lost Chanse Headmen to a serious looking injury just before the break. Mumba was denied by a great tackle from Kamarl Grant, before Bromley went close when Pinnock connected with a Marcus Ifill cross and his volley was well saved by Matt Young.
In first half injury time though Huddersfield finally drew level when Humphreys’ free kick from the right was headed home by Ashley Fletcher to make it 1-1 at the half.
The second half got off to an open start, Huddersfield striker Joe Taylor had a shot saved by Mason and Mason then dispossessed Kamil Conteh in midfield before running clear only for Corey Whitely to brilliantly deny him with a sliding tackle in the box.
Andy Woodman made more changes from there, going with two up front and the move paid off. Mikel Miller picked up a loose ball in midfield and shrugged off a challenge from Murray Wallace on the edge of the area before driving a low shot into the corner of the net past Young to put The Ravens 2-1 up.
Nicke Kabamba went close as Bromley had a great spell of pressure, but as the game headed into the final ten minutes it was Huddersfield who asked all the questions, especially after Whitely went off with a head injury.
Ilias Bronkhorst headed a Mumba cross wide at the far post and he put another headed chance wide from a corner with the next Terriers attack. Wallace had a header saved by Mason from the next corner as they continued to press, but Bromley held out to secure their second win of the League One campaign.
This was a trademark Bromley performance under Andy Woodman, hard work, endeavour, organisation and every player giving their all to achieve a win against a team that had been unbeaten in the league up to this point.
The Ravens now play Brentford Under 21s in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday night before having a two week break due to International call ups.
