Bromley 2-0 Harrogate Town
Bromley 2-0 Harrogate Town

Bromley finished August unbeaten in League Two and moved up to third in the table with 2-0 victory over Harrogate Town at Hayes Lane on Saturday afternoon thanks to second half goals from Nicke Kabamba & Omar Sowunmi.

Andy Woodman’s team went into the game lining up 5-3-2 and they made a lively start to proceedings with Marcis Ifill going on several marauding runs from right wing back.

As the game went on Harrogate had a series of corners, but Bromley still created the better chances with Michael Cheek firing wide after good work by Ashley Charles and Omar Sowunmi heading over a cross from Idris Odutayo.

Sowunmi continued to add attacking threat to his defensive duties, shooting over from range and heading a Mitchell Pinnock cross wide. Just before the break Cheek had a header saved from another great ball from Pinnock, the final chance coming when Stephen Duke-Mckenna fired wide for the visitors.

The sceond half saw Harrogate go close through Duke-McKenna whose shot was saved by Grant Smith and then the Town forward was booked for a very heavy foul on Ifill.

As play opened up Ifill headed a chance wide, Shawn McCoulsky shot over for Harrogate and Smith then made a brave save at his feet. Pinnock put an effort over from a short corner, then McKenna was denied by Smith.

With just over fifteen minutes left The Ravens got the vital breakthrough when Pinnock’s free kick found Kyle Cameron who had a header saved by James Belshaw, but Nike Kabamba was on hand to convert the rebound and make it 1-0 with his third goal of the season.

Six minutes later Bromley made it 2-0 when Pinnock sent in another free kick and Sowunmi rose highest to powerfully head home from six yards out. Deep into injury time Harrogate almost pulled one back, but Sowunmi sealed his man of the match display with a block to deny Jack Evans and Smith saved the rebound to preserve the clean sheet for the home side.
Bromley now take on Crystal Palace U21s in the EFL Trophy at Hayes Lane on Tuesday night.
