KSN are proud to support:

Bromley 2-0 Barnet
Bromley 2-0 Barnet

Bromley picked up a vital win at home and kept their second clean sheet of the season as they saw of a struggling Barnet side thanks to goals in either half from Michael Cheek and Chris Bush.

Andy Woodman made two changes to his starting line up bringing in Bush & Liam Trotter and also changed shape back to a 4-4-2 formation, which looked to suit his players much more.

The Ravens had the first chance of the match when a long ball from Bush found Cheek, but he lobbed the ball over that bar from just inside the box.

The game opened up from there with The Bees creating chances, Sam Beard hooking a chance wide from a long throw and Mason Bloomfield who had a long range drive tipped round the post by Mark Cousins.

Harry Forster continued on from last week as he looked dangerous breaking forward and he had one great solo run halted just outside the box when he was upended for a free kick.

Slightly against the run of play Bromley took the lead on 18 minutes when Cheek turned Beard on the edge of the area and went down, causing Referee Robert Whitton to award what looked a very soft penalty.

Cheek stepped up and blasted the spot kick home to make it 1-0 to the home side. Barnet responded from there with David Sesay firing narrowly wide, but despite having lots of possession Harry Kewell’s side lacked the killer touch in the final third.

Forster when close again for Bromley, turning the ball wide from ten yards out after a spell of head tennis from a free kick, before having to go off injured soon after. Late in the half Kian Flanagan went close for The Bees after good work by Beard, but Bromley held on to their lead going into the break.

The second half got off to an open start with both sides looking to attack, Bush made a great saving tackle to deny Sesay and from there Barnet had a strong spell of pressure with lots of corners and crosses into the box, but the home defence and Cousins in goal dealt with the threat well.

Just after the hour on a rare attack Bromley went two up, when a Jude Arthurs corner found Bush at the far post and he headed home powerfully in a crowded six yard box for 2-0. The game was then delayed while repairs were made to the corner flag, after Bromley sub Marcus Sablier crashed into the pole and broke it!

Barnet had more corners and pressure, Bloomfield going closest with a shot saved by Cousins, but Bromley held firm. Bush found Cheek with another great long ball down the left, but Sam Sargeant did well to deny the top scorer and Corey Whitely was just off target with the effort from the rebound.

Late on there were chances at either end, Pompey loanee Haji Mnoga looked dangerous down the right and caused the visitors problems, Sam Granville fired wide from a tight angle for Barnet before in injury time Billy Bingham missed good chance for Bromley when he shot wide from inside the box, after good work by James Alabi and Sablier.

Bromley now move up to eleventh ahead of their trip to Dover Athletic next week, while Barnet remain second from bottom.
