Bromley 1-1 Notts County

Bromley battled out a 1-1 draw with promotion rivals Notts County at a packed Hayes Lane on Saturday afternoon in a game where each side dominated one half and would probably have been pleased to take a point from.

Andy Woodman made one change from the win at Fleetwood Town last weekend with Zech Medley coming back in for Byron Webster at centre back and keeping the same 4-5-1 shape.

The Ravens made a positive start to the game with a series of long throws and corners putting Notts County under pressure. As the half went on the visitors came back into things, but they lacked the end product when in the Bromley box.

The breakthrough moment in the half came from Bromley on 28 minutes, when a Mitchel Pinnock free kick from the left was headed into his own goal by Matthew Dennis under pressure from Michael Cheek.

The Magpies tried to get back into things from there, but again they had no way of getting past the solid home defence.

The second half saw Notts County looking far more positive and Bromley look strangely lethargic. The Magpies drew level on 51minutes when Jodi Jones beat Marcus Ifill down the left and was brought down just inside the area for a penalty.

Jones sent Grant Smith the wrong way with the spot kick and it was all square. Jones then went close again soon after, when his strong run into the area saw Smith make a good save down to his left. With County dominant, Woodman made changes, going with two up front and then a third forward for the final ten minutes.

The visitors were still having the better of things right up until the 83rd minute when Scott Robertson received a second yellow card for a foul on Jude Arthurs just outside the area. This sparked a late rally from The Ravens with Medley shooting wide from a corner and Idris Odutayo driving wide. A frantic scramble from a corner in the Notts six-yard box saw appeals for penalties, but Referee Darren Drysdale was unmoved, and the teams had to settle for a point each.

Bromley now have a four-point lead at the top of League Two ahead of their home game with Cheltenham Town on Tuesday night.
