Bromley 1-1 Aldershot Town

Bromley grabbed a late point at home to relegation threatened Aldershot Town on Tuesday night thanks to an 87th minute header from Byron Webster.

Bromley started on the front foot looking to make a positive start and created a number of chances, a long throw from Chris Bush found James Alabi whose shot on goal was deflected off Kodi Lyons-Foster wide for a corner.

From the resulting Luke Coulson corner Bush headed over at the far post and from another corner Joe Partington had his header saved by Ethan Ross. Coulson then set up Billy Bingham who was also denied by Ross and Bush was then off target again with another header from a Coulson set piece.

With The Ravens still pressing Bingham hit a powerful drive that Ross tipped over, before the visitors came more into things. Following a lengthy delay for treatment for Aldershot’s Corey Jordan, Mikael Ndjoli volleyed wide for The Shots and then Sinclair Armstrong broke quickly upfield before shooting wide from the edge of the area.

Deep into injury time Corey Whitely fired over from range after latching on to a half cleared corner, but the scores remained tied at zero going into the beak.

The second half began with the visitors looking to press and they put Bromley under a lot of pressure with Ndjoli forcing a save from Ellery Balcombe and Oxlade-Chamberlain then had a shot deflected over.

On a rare attack Bromley went close when James Vennings dinked the ball over the bar when well place one on one with Ross. Ndjoli went close twice more for The Shots and Michael Cheek had a header saved from a Coulson cross at the other end, before the visitors finally got their break through on 71 minutes.

Ndjoli racing clear of the home defence before drilling the ball low into the far corner of the net to put Aldershot in front. Bromley rallied from there, Bush shot over and the visitors defence made some important blocks on the edge of the penalty area as Andy Woodman’s team pressed for an equaliser.

Then with three minutes to go Bromley levelled the scores up when a Coulson corner was powerfully headed home by Webster in a crowded area to rescue a point for the home side.

Late on in injury time The Ravens could have won it, but Bush had a header from a corner saved by Ross and then Bingham shot wide as The Shots held on for a vital point in their quest for National League survival.

The draw sees Bromley remain in eleventh place ahead of their home game with play off challengers Chesterfield on Saturday.
