Bromley suffered their first defeat of the season as they were out battled and out played by an impressive Basingstoke side who richly deserved their three points.

Bromley started well with Pierre Joseph-Dubois and Moses Ademola going close, but The Dragons responded well and Chris Flood missed two good chances as they pushed the home side back.

Basingstoke took the lead on 38 minutes when Ali Fuseini committed a clumsy foul on Simon Dunn and Manny Williams tucked away the spot kick.

Dubois went close for The Ravens late on as Bromley looked to get back into things, but to no avail.

The second half saw Liam Enver-Marum go close for the visitors, before Bromley were offered a lifeline back into the game when Jay Gasson brought down Ademola in the box.

Jamie Slabber took the penalty but stroked it tamely into the arms of Jonathan Henley, which summed up his afternoon as the veteran striker never looked confident of the task.

Mark Goldberg made three subs straight after and there was an initial response with Adam Birchall firing over from a tight angle, but Basingstoke held out under a long spell of pressure and then struck on the counter attack.

Flood finished off an impressive move for 0-2 on 80 minutes and then after The Ravens created a few half chances Shaun McCauley made it three in injury time after another great move.

This was a bad day at the office for Bromley and they must find a response next week as they travel to another tough opponent in Boreham Wood.
