Bromley 0-1 Dagenham & Redbridge

Bromley kicked off their pre-season campaign with a very competitive game against Wayne Burnett’s Daggers and manager Mark Goldberg said he was pleased with the performance although disappointed to have lost the game.IMG-20140705-00299

The match got off to a fast pace with both sides using the excellent playing surface to zip the ball round and looking to attack.

Bromley fielded several of their summer singings including Damien Scannell who was very impressive down the right.

After a promising start by The Ravens it was Dagenham who took the lead on 12 minutes when a long ball from Jack Connors found Alan Connell who coolly dinked the ball over the advancing Seb Brown to open the scoring.

Bromley then had a great spell of pressure with Scannell having a shot deflected over, Louis Denis and Ali Fuseini having efforts saved by visitors keeper Liam O’Brien. Late in the half Dennis headed just over after another great run and cross from Scannell, but the League Two side held on to their lead.

Bromley began the second half on top with Adam Birchall heading wide and Harry Grant being foiled by a great Scott Doe tackle as he shaped to shoot in the six yard box.IMG-20140705-00298

Dennis went close again after good work by Moses Ademola who also has a header saved soon after. Last season’s top scorer for Bromley Bradley Goldberg returned with his parent club and forced a save from Brown before later on hitting the post with a low drive.

The game saw several heavy challenges made by The Daggers in the middle of the park as they grew frustrated at The Ravens dominance. As Bromley continued to press Danny Waldren shot narrowly wide, Grant had a dipping drive tipped over, Birchall shot wide when well placed and Elliott Buchanan was also just off target.

Goldberg was denied by Tom King for Dagenham, before in injury time Birchall was played in by Grant one on one with the Keeper only to put his effort wide of the post from close range with Ademola free on the edge of the six yard box.
