Bromley 0-0 Kidderminster Harriers
Bromley 0-0 Kidderminster Harriers

Bromley drew a blank in an uninspiring display against relegation threatened Kidderminster Harriers at Hayes Lane on Saturday afternoon, with the visitors registering the only shots on target in a match bereft of real quality.

Ashley Charles came back into the side replacing the suspended Josh Passley and Jude Arthurs moved to right wing back in the usual 5-3-2 formation.

Bromley started the match looking positive especially attacking down the left, and the first chance came when Idris Odutayo and Olufela Olomola combined to set up Michael Cheek who turned the ball wide at the near post.

Harriers had a brief spell of pressure going into the fifteen minute mark, but The Ravens then pressed again and after some nice build up play Cheek looked to have put Bromley in front when scrambling the ball home when Christian Dibble spilled the ball under pressure Odutayo, but the Linesman flagged for offside.

Kidderminster’s first shot came when Jay Emmanuel-Thomas fired wide from the edge of the area on a rare foray up field. Bromley continued to press down the left hand side, but Harriers defended well and the game slowed as it drifted towards half time goalless.

The second half saw Kidderminster start brightly, Caleb Richards crossing for Krystian Pearce who had his header well saved low down by Grant Smith. The match slowed to a pedestrian pace and prompted Andy Woodman to change the shape of the side to 4-4-2 with Louis Dennis coming on behind the strikers and Kido Taylor-Hart on the right wing.

The home side still seemed to struggle to get going though and any balls into the area were easily dealt with by Dibble and his defence, with Bromley choosing to go direct and seemingly play into their visitors’ strengths.

Jack Lambert had a powerful shot from just inside the box saved by Smith as Harriers started to believe they may take something more than a point from the game and Sam Bellis crossed for Sammy Robinson who shot over from range. Deep into injury time Bromey did fashion one last chance, but Cheek headed against the bar as the Linesman once again flagged for offside.

The point sees Bromley remain in third with results elsewhere going their way on the whole, but they will have to improve ahead of next weeks home game with York City.
