Bromley 0-0 Fulham XI

Bromley began their pre-season campaign with a goalless draw at home to a young & skilful Fulham side, but despite wholesale changes and a lack of goals it was still an entertaining afternoon’s football for the fans at Hayes Lane and a good workout for Neil Smith’s side.

The Ravens started on the front foot with Reeco Fairchild-Hackett going close and Luke Coulson seeing his volleyed effort from a Sam Wood throw well saved by Taye Ashby-Hammond.

Lining up 4-4-2 and looking a far bigger and stronger side than last season, Bromley created another chance when Michael Cheek had a goal disallowed for offside just before the water break at the midway point in the half.

Fulham started to create some chances from there with Tushaun Walters having an effort saved, Fabio Carvalho hitting the post from the edge of the box and Timmy Abraham clipping the ball just wide and running in on goal one on one with Mark Cousins in the Bromley goal.

Late on Coulson had a free kick saved and Fairchild-Hackett had a goal also ruled out for offside as the home side finished the half strongly.

Neil Smith changed all of his outfield players at half time and summer signing Billy Bingham nearly scored from the kick off with a shot from the centre circle that sailed just over but following this, Fulham had a good spell at first with Carvalho curling an effort just wide from the edge of the box and Sonny Hilton hit a 25 yarder, which Cousins did brilliantly to palm over the bar – his last act before going off.

Following a water break the Ravens picked up again; Korey Henry fired just over with a shot from distance following a powerful run and No27 Trialist also went close.

The Cottagers’ Sylvester Jasper had a shot saved by the feet of the trialist keeper in the Bromley goal, but The Ravens defence rarely looked troubled with Marc-Anthony Okoye showing good composure to play himself out of trouble when on the edge of his own six yard box.

Henry went close again with a sharp turn and shot, while at the other end Alex Brefo made a strong block to deny Abraham. Bingham had a well struck free kick saved late on but in the end neither side could make the breakthrough and it ended all square.
