Bristol Pitbulls 3-8 Invicta Dynamos
Bristol Pitbulls 3-8 Invicta Dynamos

Four goals in a man of the match performance from Richard Bentham saw the Invicta Dynamos return to winning ways on Sunday evening.

Coming into the tie the Dynamos were without Anthony Lennon, Zach Sullivan, Michael Timms and Tim Smith and their lack of numbers showed in the first as the Pitbulls raced into a 2-0 lead. Swede Henrik Sahlin fired the hosts in front before Steven Osman doubled that advantage on the powerplay with a drive beyond Andy Moffat.

In the second frame the visitors then began a remarkable fightback that would see them lead the tie 5-2 with forty minutes played. Richard Bentham fired past Michael Crisp whilst his side had the man advantage and Andy Smith also notched on a powerplay to pull the Dynamos level.

With seven minutes remaining Bentham then gave the visitors a 3-2 lead but Bristol restored parity when ‘import’ Egidjus Bauba put the puck between the posts. Bentham’s hat-trick completing third quickly cancelled out his opponent’s leveller before Ryan Giles netted his first for the side since his recent return to provide the two goal cushion come the buzzer.

In the final period the Dynamos then notched another three unanswered to power their way to an 8-3 victory. Whilst on the powerplay, Richard Bentham put away his fourth of the evening before Canadian Justin Noble added his name to the game sheet.

With just three minutes remaining, forward Robbie Brown brought the scoring to a close as he slotted beyond Michael Crisp to complete a morale boosting victory for the visitors.

So it was an important road win for the Dynamos who battled hard despite their lack of numbers to pick up the invaluable two league points.

Man of the match for the travelling side was the in form Richard Bentham whose four goals proved the difference on the night whilst goalie Michael Crisp took the same honours for the hosts.

From here the team now prepare for another double header weekend beginning in Gillingham with the visit of Slough on Saturday at 5.15pm before a cup rematch with the Romford Raiders in Essex on Sunday.
