Boreham Wood 1-1 Bromley
Boreham Wood 1-1 Bromley

Despite dominating the game for long spells Bromley only brought a point back from Meadow Park thanks to a superb display from home keeper Russell and some naïve defending late on.Bromley

The game got off to an open start with Bromley creating the best chances, Bradley Goldberg had an effort saved as did Danny Waldren and Pierre Joseph-Dubois fired just wide.

Waldren went close with a free kick and The Ravens also had a good shout for a penalty when Russell appeared to foul Rob Swaine when challenging for a loose ball.

The home side’s physical approach caused several flash points during a bad tempered first period. Ben Swallow forced another great save from Russell and Jacob Erskine had an effort cleared off the line by Cox.

Glen Pooley then had a deflected shot well saved before the half ended with Swaine & O’Loughlin clashing off the ball and Bromley’s captain was booked.

The second half started in similar fashion and Bromley went in front on 47 minutes when Swallow’s cross was headed into his own net by a startled O’Loughlin.

Erskine had a good effort saved while the home side had their first shot when Montgomerry shot over. Boreham wood then battled back with Mario Notto shooting over and Simmonds having an effort saved by Lewis Carey.

Then the home side were reduced to ten men after Notto was red carded for an elbow. Goldberg had a tame effort saved by Russell before the home side made a last surge for a point.

Swaine made a foolish error trying to shepherd the ball out, but conceded a foul and from the resulting free kick Sterling-Parker headed home at the far post to equalise in injury time.

This was harsh on Mark Goldberg’s side, but in the end they should have put it beyond doubt and seen the game out against ten men.
