Charlton are threatening to return to their early season malaise of drawing too many games.

The stalemate at the Macron was the third successive 1-1 result the Addicks have recorded.

Though replacing the rested Joe Gomez with Tal Ben Haim was the only change to the squad that travelled to Hillsborough, Guy Luzon made a number of changes to his starting XI to freshen things up.

Rhoys Wiggins reclaimed the left-back spot from Morgan Fox and Alou Diarra came in for Gomez. Both players had fine games.

Frederic Bulot replaced former Trotter, Chris Eagles, on the left of midfield and Tony Watt replaced Simon Church at the front.

It was an archetypal match of two halves affair. After a sluggish start, the Addicks went ahead after nine minutes, only to surrender their lead ten minutes from the end.

Chris Solly and Johann Gudmundsson exchanged passes down the right before Solly delivered a cross to beyond the far post. Watt’s header fell invitingly for Frederic Bulot to smash past Adam Bogdan to give the visitors the lead.

Charlton continued to press and Watt probaly had the best of the chances before the interval.

The visitors had much the better of the opening period once they had taken the lead.

The worry amongst the sparse travelling support was that their team would be made to pay for its first half profligacy, and their fears were well founded.

The Addicks spent most of the second half on the back foot, though they still looked a threat on the break.

Watt and Gudmunsson probably had the best opportunities but Bolton’s leveller had been coming for some while.

Artful Dodger, Adam Le Fondre affectionately known as ALF, was played into a one-on-on situation with Stephen Henderson and made no mistake with an unerring finish.

On the balance of play, a draw was a fair result but both managers will feel they should have taken all three points.
