Best weekend yet for Nevill
Best weekend yet for Nevill

Alex Nevill enjoyed his best weekend to date in the Mini Challenge Cooper Pro championship last weekend at the Brands Hatch Mini Festival for round 3 of the championship.

Whilst qualifying proved disappointing, with the Dartford racer starting 9th for race one, Alex was able to climb to 5th place by the time the chequered flag came out at the end of the race.

This meant the 2018 Cooper Am champion would start 5th for race Two, where unfortunately an incident on the first lap resulted in a spin that put Alex at the back of the Cooper Pro class.

What followed in race Three however was the 25 year old’s best performance in the class to date. Starting 10th and last in the class, Alex again recovered to 5th place, finishing just a tenth of a second off of the podium in a tight photo finish.

On his way through the pack Alex also set the fastest lap of the race, and indeed the weekend, which saw him win the “Sunoco Fastest Mini Cooper Pro Driver of the Weekend” award.

Alex was very pleased with how his home race weekend went. “In an ideal world our results could’ve been better with the pace we’ve shown this weekend, but nonetheless this gives me a huge confidence boost for the rest of the year.

“We’ve shown this weekend that we do have the pace to fight for podiums and wins, and I can’t wait to put that to good use in the remaining Four rounds.”

The Cooper Pro class resumes at Croft on the 17th & 18th August.
