Despite rallying late on hosts Beckenham Town fell to another home defeat this time at the hands of Sevenoaks Town.beckenham-town-vs-someone

The visitors almost had a dream start inside the opening two minutes as Yacine Gnahore found The Becks’ Darren Ibrahim alert, the striker denied twice from close range in quick succession.

It was a difficult opening for the hosts as the visitors’ intensity resulted in a quick turnover in possession but the home side stood firm as the defence repelled constant pressure.

In a rare foray The Becks’ Jamie Humphris found himself with one man to beat but at the crucial moment stumbled over the ball and the danger was cleared.

The Becks started the second half the better with Kelvin Ogboe striking a Humphris lay-off towards goal but defender Jack Miles literally put his body on the line as he unconventionally used his face to clear the danger – Humphris also forced a fine low save at his near post by Oshane Brown soon after.

However despite the positive start to the half by the home side The Oaks took the lead as Billy Bennett picked up a loose ball on the edge of the box and found the back of the net shooting through the crowd of players, leaving Ibrahim unsighted.

The Oaks’ pressure began to tell and duly doubled their lead with just over twenty minutes remaining – Micky Dalton pounced upon a loose ball on the edge of the penalty area and curled it home.

However sandwiched by the goals was a sad sight for the visitors as Gnahore was forced off the field on a stretcher with what looked like an Achilles injury.

With ten minutes to go The Becks got themselves back in it as Marvin Alebiosu found space in The Oaks’ box. His saw his first effort crash off the crossbar but reacted quickest heading home the rebound.

With their tails up The Becks sensed a comeback as Humphris looked certain to score from close range but ‘keeper Brown saved twice with his legs to avert the danger at the near post.

Despite their late valiant effort having been revitalised by the late Alebiosu goal it came to no avail for The Becks as The Oaks held on for the three points.
