Greenwich Borough came out on top and advanced in this season’s FA Cup with a 4-0 victory over hosts Beckenham Town at Eden Park Avenue.

Beckenham v Greenwich

Mohamed Eisa bagged himself a brace to cap a fine individual performance.

Starting the better side in the opening stages The Becks created the first chances on goal as Greenwich defender Peter Sweeney was caught in possession by Hassian Jalloh.

Jalloh, under pressure, got away a left-footed curling effort which visiting ‘keeper Craig Holloway saved low to his right with front-man Jamie Humphries unable to get enough on the rebound to steer in home.

The busy Jalloh then forced Holloway into action once more, saving with his feet.

Despite the better of the opening exchanges the hosts found themselves a goal down just shy of the ten minute mark.

After a long ball forward found Danny Phillips on the right edge of the penalty area, he headed it back to the onrushing Eisa who volleyed it home first time from a good twenty yards out.

The goal brought Greenwich to life as halfway through the opening period Billy Bennett’s right footed curling effort from range clipped the top of the crossbar and over.

The Becks’ ‘keeper Alex Hyde then appeared to get away with one as he seemingly claimed an aerial ball forward catching it outside of his penalty area – The ‘keepers feet looked to be the wrong side of the line as he calmly retreated two-three steps and into relative safety.

On the half hour The Becks and Jalloh were unlucky not to equalise as the midfield-man headed an Ashley Robinson inswinging corner towards goal but it appeared to strike a team-mate as the danger was cleared by the visitors.

Either side of a Robinson effort on goal for the hosts, Greenwich Borough were unlucky not to extend their lead.

Early goal-scorer Eisa was put through on the left hand side by Michael Power but his goal-bound effort was deflected onto the post and wide by ‘keeper Hyde.

Power himself was then unlucky in front of goal, unable to get a touch on a Jake Britnall shot/cross from the inside-right position on the edge of the penalty area.

The half came to a close as Humphries shot over from close range after good work on the left by Robinson.

Nine seconds into the second half Humphries was again involved but his low shot on the left side of the box was easily held by Holloway.

Despite the early effort on goal the second half produced little goalmouth action as both sides cancelled each other out.

With ten minutes remaining The Becks’ Hyde kept his side in it with a fine close-range save from a bullet-header from Bennett.

However with the game coming to a close the visitors cemented their place in the next round with three late goals in quick succession, giving the game an exaggerated result.

Greenwich doubled their lead as Robinson was dispossessed on halfway. The fine Eisa unselfishly squared the ball and substitute Darko scored from the edge of the box.

Within two minutes the game was up as the visitors broke through once more – Eisa bagged himself a brace as he coolly rounded Hyde and slotting home into an empty net.

With the game ebbing away a substantial stoppage resulted in substitute Darko leaving the field on a stretcher – The Greenwich player stricken after a 50/50 with ‘keeper Hyde where neither player was prepared to lose out.

With plenty of stoppage time to play Greenwich had time to add gloss and a fourth as Bennett scored perhaps one of his easiest side-footing home from close range after a delightfully inviting cross on the left by Jack Clark.
