Centuries from Danni Wyatt and Kent’s Tammy Beaumont took England to a 75-run victory over Pakistan in their opening ODI in Kuala Lumpur.

Wyatt – returning to open at the top of the order – was awarded Player of the Match for her first ODI ton. Sarah Glenn took 2-38 on her international debut while Kate Cross nipped in with four wickets.

For Tammy Beaumont, it was ODI hundred No.7. That takes her to No.3 on England’s list of ODI centurions, only Charlotte Edwards and Claire Taylor have scored more hundreds.

On a day of landmarks, Katherine Brunt’s 2-31 saw her become the first English woman to take 150 ODI wickets.

It was a professional performance from Heather Knight’s team against a Pakistan team who did well to restrict the visitors to under 300 and showed fight with the bat.

Speaking at the end of the game, Danni Wyatt said: “I’m delighted to have got 100 and for us to get the win.

“It was a tough challenge early on. The pitch was slow and skiddy so it was really important to play straight.

“Heather’s given me licence to play my game at the top of the order and that’s what I did.

“We maybe left a few runs out there and there are definitely a few things to work on for the next game, but Pakistan batted well and it was to nice to start the new era with a good win.”

The second ODI is at the same venue on Thursday December 12, a live-stream of the match will be available on PCB’s YouTube channel.
