Bearsted 4-0 Corinthian
Bearsted 4-0 Corinthian

Bearsted cruised through to the next round of the Kent Senior Trophy with an emphatic victory over Corinthian.

The scoreline could and maybe should have been more with a few chances going a begging while a young Corinthian side kept going, but in the end class showed and now Bearsted hope to continue in the League.

The game started quickly for Bearsted as in the fourth minute they took the lead when a ball out to Richard Jimmoh on the left saw him beat the defender and his low cross to the back post found Rueban Jones who tapped in from two yards.

The game went quiet for a while with Bearsted on top and then in the thirtieth minute they doubled their lead, a long ball out to the right wing found Jimmoh who went past the defender and again his low cross to the back post found Jake Embery who tapped in from two yards.

Five minutes later it nearly became three when a long ball forward saw Embery latch on to it and go past Toby Waller who had rushed out of his area and then just about to shoot into an empty net when Oliver Fryer appeared and his block tackle pushed the ball away from goal.

Another glorious chance came in the thirty ninth minute when Aiden Clark put Embery through on goal and from twenty yards he tried to chip the onrushing Waller but Waller was able to catch it.

In the forty second minute Corinthian had their first real half chance when Thomas Mitcham saw his fifteen yard shot saved by Leighton Fanshane and then in the first minute of added on time Bearsted got their third when Jimmoh was put through and from fifteen yards shot past Waller.

The second half saw a better performance from Corinthian but still they did not score. In the forty eighth minute Bearsted could have been four up when Embery was put through on the right wing and he passed into the path of Jimmoh but from fifteen yards he shot well over the bar.

Three minutes later Kieran King saw his twenty yard shot come back off the cross bar and post – this epitomised their luck.

Bearsted kept going for another goal and in the fifty seventh minute Michael Hagen saw his shot from the edge of the area saved.

Eight minutes later Corinthian had another chance to score when a corner into the area found Caleb Agoke but leaning back his shot went wide.

The game went a little quiet for a while and then in the eighty sixth minute Bearsted scored their fourth which they fully deserved when Paddy Flynn was put through and he flicked the ball over the onrushing Waller and saw the ball go into the net via the post.

Four minutes later it could have been five when Jarrod Trespaderne was put in on goal and he flicked it over the keeper but Freyer had got back and cleared it.
