Bearsted still have not beaten Corinthian in the League but this should have been the game where that record went in an entertaining encounter at Honey Lane.
Corinthian got off to a great start when Ross Obazee running from halfway passed out to Josh Stirman who from 15 yards slid the ball past Scott Andrews.
Bearsted came back & in the 5th minute David Baronowski saw his 20 yard shot deflected for a corner, two minutes later a long ball forward saw Emanual Oluwasmo tackled on the edge of the area by Keeper Aiden Prall & the ball came out to James Bessey-Saldanha who beat one defender but then blazed his shot over the bar.
Bearsted equalised in the 20th minute when Bessey-Saldanha on the right passed to Lucian Scarlatt who passed back to Bessey-Saldanha & from15 yards his shot beat Prall.
Six minutes later it was nearly two when another long ball saw Bessey-Saldanho inbetween two defenders & stretching saw his shot saved by Prall. Corinthian then had a chance in the 32nd minute when a free kick from captain Oscar Housego into the area found Jack Healey & his flicked shot nearly surprised Andrews but he saved it.
Two minutes later in this topsy turvey game Sam Flisher found himself in the area & his shot was saved by Prall for a corner. Another chance came Bearsted’s way in the 36th minute when Oluwasmo latched onto a long ball went into the area but his shot was saved by Prall.
The last half chance of the half came in the 38th minute when a Corinthian corner into the area saw Jamie Miller’s header go just past the post.
The second half was only one minute old when Bearsted took the lead, Josh Beadle’s through ball for Oluwasmo into the area where he went round the onrushing Prall & slid the ball into an empty net.
Corinthian had a good chance to equalise when Josh Gilbert 5 yards out saw his shot blocked for a corner & in the very next minute Bessey-Saldanha running forward from halfway saw his shot saved by Prall.
In the 62nd minute Prall tipped Baronowski’s 20 yard shot onto the bar & in the next minute Scarlatt weaving run saw his shot from 10 yards hit the sidenetting. Bearsted then took a two goal advantage when in the 68th minute the ball came to Scarlatt’s feet & he controlled it & laid the ball into the path of Oluwasmo & from 6 yards he shot home.
Corinthian kept themselves in the game when Stirman’s low cross into the area found James Trueman & from 8 yards his shot was deflected past Andrews.
Time was running out & Bearsted thought they were going to get that elusive victory but in the 90th minute the ball rebounding around the area fell at Jamie Miller’s feet & from 10 yards he shot past Andrews.
The drama came in the 2nd minute of added on time when firstly Peter Williams on the left hand side saw his shot pushed away by Prall but only to Baronowski & from 18 yards his curling effort beat Prall but not Trueman who tipped it over the bar conceding a penalty & getting himself sent off, up stepped Oluwasmo for his hat trick but his weak penalty was pushed away by Prall.
The final whistle went & both teams deserved the point for their endeavours.
