The road to Wembley ended for Bearsted while Hackney Wick carry on their dream in their first ever FA Cup tie in a game of two halves.
Bearsted’s manager Keith Stevens will be annoyed as they did not finish the tie in the first half of which they dominated while Hackney’s manager Earnest Eghan would have been proud of his team in the second half as they now go on to play Bognor Regis Town at home in the next round.
The first half chance of the game came in the 2nd minute when Issa Sidibe saw his twenty yard curling effort pushed around the post by Chris Swift.
Two minutes later Nathan Light saw his twenty yard curling shot go just over the bar. Five minutes later Aiden Clarke’s snapshot forced Mohammed Nasim to save it, a minute later Sam Flisher on the end of some nice interplay saw his shot from fifteen yards come back of the post.
Hackney could have taken the lead in the 16th minute when firstly Leonardo Pola saw his eighteen yard shot pushed away by Swift but straight to Sebaihi Mohammed but from five yards he blasted it over the bar.
The rest of the half saw Bearsted in control and they should have put some of their chances away to take charge of the game leaving Hackney playing for pride.
In the twentieth minute Richard Jimoh eventually got to the by-line and his low cross found Light but under pressure his shot went past the post. Three minutes later Jimoh saw his free kick twenty yards out fly just past the post, two minutes later Bearsted took the lead when Flisher found himself in the area and after some intricate play he reacted to the pass and slipped the ball past Nasim.
In the thirtieth minute the ball came over from the left and Flisher eighteen yards out smashed it over the bar.
In a rare attack in the thirty fifth minute a cross from the right fell at Adam Cheniti’s feet but from ten yards he blasted his shot over the bar.
The last chance of the half came in the first minute off added on time when a free kick into the Bearsted area and Issa Sidibe swivelling saw his shot go past the post. Bearsted did not really want the half to end while the opposite can be said for Hackney.
Bearsted had a glorious chance to double their lead in the 53rd minute when Jake Embury chased onto a through ball but Nasim came out and his clearance hit Embury and went past the post.
In the space of two minutes the game changed when Hackney Wick scored two goals, the first came in the fifty sixth minute when a cross to the back post found Leonardo Pola although looking offside knocked into the net from five yards then in the fifty eighth minute when a cross into the area found Adam Cheniti who from ten yards shot past Swift.
This shook the home crowd while the away supporters went wild with excitement. Bearsted huffed and puffed trying to get an equaliser while Hackney were always dangerous on the counter attack.
The only real chance Bearsted had of an equaliser came in the sixty eighth minute when a long ball forward saw Jimoh head on into the path of Embury who went into the area and went past the onrushing Nasim but from an acute angle with the goal waiting to bulge a defender came across and blocked it which in the end saved the game for Hackney.
In the seventy fifth minute Light saw his shot saved by Nasim. The game then went quiet as Bearsted could not find a way back while Hackney had a few chances that could have put the game well in their favour.
