Bearsted 0-2 Sheppey United
Bearsted 0-2 Sheppey United

Sheppey United got the three points but made hard work of it against a resilient Bearsted side and continue in their quest for the League title.

The game itself was not spectacular as Sheppey dominated possession but lacked chances while Bearsted defended well & relied on breakaways. The first real chance of the half came in the 44th minute when a Billy Bennett corner into the area saw Ashley Sains header punched away by Bradley Collins, then seconds later Warren Mfula down the left saw his cross into the area headed wide by Bennett 12 yards out.

In the first minute of added on time Mfula passed inside to Bennett but again from 10 yards he shot wide to the dismay of the large contingent of Sheppey supporters.

The half time whistle went and Sheppey still had work to do while Bearsted would be happy that they have not conceded.

The second carried on like the first with Sheppey in the ascendancy and in the 54th minute they took a deserved lead when Bennett latched onto a loose ball & put Mfula in & from 18 yards he shot home.

Bearsted would now have to come out if they wanted to get anything out of this game but Sheppey continued to press forward & in the 60th minute Jefferson Albangbee on the right cut inside went into the area & from 10 yards his shot was deflected just past the post for a corner.

As the game wore on it seemed like a one nil result was what Sheppey would have to take as their supporters were saying this wasn’t a fluent performance by them.

In the 89th minute they wrapped up the points when Max Oldham on the right received the ball went into area & saw his shot from 12 yards hit the back of the net.

The final whistle went & a little bit of relief for Sheppey as they had won ugly but points not performances matter in the latter stages of the season.
