Bromley FC kick off their debut League One campaign with a trip to Oakwell to face Barnsley on Saturday afternoon.

The Ravens begin life in the third tier of English football having won League Two last season and Manager Andy Woodman has had a busy summer assembling a new look squad for this historic campaign, signing ten new players.

Last weekend Bromley lost on penalties to Reading at home in the League Cup having drawn 1-1 in normal time. Michael Cheek scoring the equaliser for The Ravens to kick off his tally for the new season.

Andy Woodman will be without defender Deon Woodman & keeper Grant Smith who picked up injuries in pre-season and may also be doubts over Jacob Mendy and Ashley Charles who had to go off in the Reading game.

Barnsley go into the season having finished fifteenth last time round, there’s been a number of changes to the squad over the break. Daniel Stednell’s side beat Wigan Athletic at home in the League Cup on penalties last Saturday after a 1-1 draw, Cameron McGeehan with a late equaliser for The Tykes.      

When Barnsley were playing their solitary Premier League campaign in the 1997–98 season, Bromley were grinding life out in the Isthmian League Premier Division finishing fifteenth. Both clubs have experienced ups and down since then, but they now meet in League One.   

Both teams will be hoping for a positive start to the season having had multiple changes to their squads and it’s all set to be an intriguing afternoon’s football in South Yorkshire.  

The game at Oakwell kicks off at 3pm and is also live on Sky Plus.
