Assassins endure tough weekend

The Assassins Youth Team took part in the Eastbourne Extreme tournament on Saturday in Eastbourne.

4 Teams took part and going by recent league results the Assassins would be expected to have a tough day as they have been on
the wrong side of the results against the other teams in the Tournament.

First game was against the Cruisers, who would be favourites to win the tournament as the team is made up of 15 and 16 year
olds where as the Assassins are aged between 10 and 13. A great game with lots of opportunities created but sadly the back of
the net could be found and the Assassins lost 3-0.

Next up was against Eastbourne Edge, who the Assassins have yet to beat in 2012. The team started brightly and were playing
some great hockey, creating plenty of chances and remaining solid at the back with Lucy pulling out some great saves. James
scored 3 with a natural hat-trick, before Alix scored a great long shot and Samuel made it 5-0 before Eastbourne pulled back
a late consolation goal. With the final score 5-1, the Assassins had caused an upset.

Game 3 was against Hastings Crazy Dogs, who the Assassins had beaten once previously, but the Crazy Dogs had beaten the
Assassins during their last 3 encounters. With the prospect of a final up for grabs, the Assassins were on a roll and
comfortably beat Hastings 4-0 with 2 goals from James and one a piece for Kieran and Luke.

A Final against the Cruisers was the reward and another tough and exciting game against the older players. The Assassins did
manage to get 2 past the Cruisers, which was the first time we had ever scored against them, but unfortunately the Cruisers
managed 5 so it was runners up spot for the Assassins, which after turning up as underdogs was a great result!

Well done the Assassins, who are all improving game by game, so the league wins are sure to come soon!
