Arundel 1-7 Herne Bay
Arundel 1-7 Herne Bay

A good all round team performance produced a 7-1 trouncing of The Macron Store Southern Combination side, Arundel.

Bay full of confidence from the mid-week six goal win were ahead inside 3 minutes; Jake Embery heading in from Tom Carlton ‘s cross. Every attack for the next 13 minutes looked like bringing another goal and this constant pressure paid off as Danny Leonard, after dispossessing the defender, drove into the box before coolly placing the ball wide of the keeper.

Two minutes later Embery made it 3-0 as he broke through the back line and lobbed the advancing keeper. The game was effectively over on the half hour, following a quick break away, Miles Cornwell raced out of the midfield, passed to Embery whose first time shot from outside the area was only parried by the keeper, leaving Carlton to roll the ball into the empty net.

Arundel did pull one back on the stroke of half time after Bradley Schafer tripped over the ball in midfield, losing possession allowing Shane Brazil to race through to drill the ball past Jordan Beeney.

Eight minutes into the second half Leonard made it 5-1, after good work from Carlton.

The hosts were now defending in numbers in order to keep the score down but Bay would not be denied. Embery getting his third and Bays’ sixth. Schafer adding number 7 to ensure Bay ran out comfortable winners, banking £2,890 and in the draw for the 1st Qualifying Round.
