Arsenal pair set to leave Gills

On loan Arsenal duo Trae Coyle and Zech Medley are expected to leave Gillingham and return to their parent club this week.

The pair were signed by manager Steve Evans on loan at the start of the season and were expected to see out the whole campaign at Priestfield, however they now seem set to end their time in Gillingham early.

With Josh Eccles and Darren Drysdale having ended their loan spells and returned to Coventry City, along with Scott Robertson having done the same and returned to Celtic, Evans is finding his threadbare squad is looking even thinner ahead of Saturday’s League One trip to Accrington Stanley.

Coyle has made just eight starts and thirteen substitute appearances under Evans, scoring four times in the process as Gillingham looked to use him more of an impact player in recent months.

His last appearance in a Gillingham shirt came in the 3-1 loss to Northampton Town in the league on Tuesday 29th December.

Meanwhile, Medley made 17 starts for The Gills with a further appearance off the bench, with his last outing for the side in the 2-1 loss at Doncaster Rovers in the league on Saturday 12th December.

With the pair seemingly on their way back to North London, Evans will be eagerly looking to bolster his squad ahead of the weekend and loans may well be the way to do it.
