Sittingbourne have picked up sixteen points in their six Isthmian League games since Reece Prestedge came in as manager supported by Joe Anderson who has been speaking with KSN.

It’s a run that has lifted the Brickies into the Southeast’s Play Off places.
After Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Herne Bay, the new man’s number two – assistant boss Joe Anderson spoke to KSN about the early days of their tenure at the Staxson Stadium and admitted, “If we can play the next six games and get another 16 points. I’d bite you hand off here and now!”
“We came in at Crowborough for our first game three weeks ago, and whilst Reece had been here last year, there were some new faces and to come back and win there was massive for us.”
“To keep the run going has been brilliant and full credit to the boys, we’ve asked and they have gone out and delivered.”
“Crowborough was an eye opener for me as I only knew Gavin Hoyte – I played with him at Lincoln City fifteen, sixteen years ago!”
“We shared a house for a short period of time – other than that I knew nobody and was relying on people who were in the team giving you information.”
“Reece knew some but I had to pick things up very quickly!”
“Obviously really enjoying it at the moment and not having a midweek game this week is great – it’s unheard of since we came in!”
“Our training time has been minimal so to actually be able to have two good sessions before we play Eastbourne Town on Saturday is incredible – we’ll be able to get more across of what we have been asking for, our principles.”
“We have played a lot of games so being able to have perhaps a lighter session on Tuesday to be able to walk through a few things, but we are looking forward to getting more time on the training ground.”
Reflecting on the weekend’s point, Anderson said, “Wasn’t much in the game first half – we gifted them their goal, but other than that, after the first ten or fifteen minutes we did what we had to do, and even after then I thought we had the chances to nick one before half-time.”
“During the break, we asked the boys to give us a little bit more energy and a little bit more quality and I think we got what we asked.”
“They got the goal through Stevo (Jack Steventon), but we just couldn’t get the second one… I think on another day, we could have got three, four or five. It feels a little bit like we dropped two points, but equally, Winches Field is a tough place to come and ultimately, it’s a good point as well.”
“Maybe if we look back in three or four weeks’ time and you see that teams have come here and dropped points, I think we might see Saturday’s point with a bit more clarity.”
“The boys were gutted in the dressing room after the game, which was great to see – they have drawn a game that they think they should have won which is a positive for us that the players look to win every game at the moment!”
