Ambition drives Joshua to victory

Eleven year old Joshua Graham from the village of Wouldham near Rochester, managed to conquer all at the British Kart championships at the Warden Law circuit in Sunderland.

Racing in the 8 – 13 year old Honda Cadet class he beat the nation’s best to finish first in the second of the four round series. He now lies second overall in the championship and is looking in fine shape for the next round at the Fulbeck circuit in Lincolnshire in two weeks’ time.

Joshua won the Cadet championship at Sittingbourne’s Bayford Meadows circuit last year and now drives for the local Ambition Motorsport UK team, whose drivers locked out the podium positions at last weekend’s event.

The Aylesford Secondary school pupil is competing against 37 other drivers in the national championship, which finishes at the Paul Fletcher international circuit in Lincolnshire on 13 – 15th November .

Still in his ‘rookie’ season in the championship, Joshua had a bad start to last weekend’s event after suffering a disqualification in his opening race, which effectively left him last in the point’s standings.

He managed to finish 7th in his second race which left him 19th on the grid for the all-important Pre final. Here Joshua used his Synergy Fluro Carbon chassis and RPM engine to excellent effect to power his way up 14 places to finish a superb fifth, which left him ideally positioned for a chance of a debut victory in the main final of the day.

In a close race Joshua and his Ambition Motorsport UK team mates, each drove amazing races to take the top three positons at the finish, separated by less than one second after 17 hard fought laps of the Karting North East circuit, which lasted just under 17 minutes.

Joshua also took the ‘Top Rookie’ trophy to go along with his impressive first place trophy. This was a standout performance by the Kent driver and his Sittingbourne based team and we will be looking forward to seeing how he fares in the next round of the championship on the 9-11th October.
