The Addicks have a dozen games still to play and technically could be playing in any one of three divisions next season.Charlton Athletic

The likelihood is the club will be in the Championship but everyone will be happier when there are a few more points on the board.

52 points is the accepted total for safety in the Champoinship and Charlton are currently nine points shy of that mark.

Burnley are first up and the Clarets have won five, drawn three and lost nine on the road. The Addicks are still changing their formation on a regular basis and Chris Powell will need to decide the shape he thinks will give him the best chance of success.

After Burnley, the Addicks have two quick fire away games at Peterborough next Tuesday and Huddersfield four days later. These three games will give Powell an excellent opportunity to gather enough points to extinguish any relegation thoughts. Yann Kermorgant will, of course, miss all three games through suspension.

Millwall, Bolton, Wolves, Leeds and Bristol City on the last day of the season, are the other teams that have yet to visit The Valley. Powell will view that quintet as a really good opportunity to improve his side’s woeful home record.

After Huddersfield, Charlton will have Brighton,Barnsley, Cardiff and Middlesbrough left to visit. The club’s away form has been good this season but the those final four trips will see them face teams who will all be desperate for the points.

Brighton and Boro are likely to be scrapping to get into the play-offs, Cardiff will be looking to cement an automatic promotion place while Barnsley will be fighting to avoid the drop.

It may well be that their form at The Valley will be key to where the Addicks finish in the league.
