Lee Bowyer’s unbeaten run came to an end at Kingsmeadow on Tuesday evening. A Lyle Taylor goal on the stroke of half-time was enough to settle a poor contest.

Charlton struggled to sustain any kind of attacking momentum, and came closest when Jason Peaece hit the post with a header in the second-half.

Bowyer brought in Ezri Konsa for Anfernee Dijksteel at right-back, and Stephy Mavididi replaced Nicky Ajose up front.‎ Dijksteel and Ajose dropped to the bench.

‎Wimbledon came close early on when Reeves had to make a smart save to deny Harry Forrester, and Konsa had to react quickly to stop
Taylor from knocking the rebound in.

The decisive goal came in the last minute of the half. There was no danger as Patrick Bauer was shepherding the ball back to Ben Amos, but the big German inexplicably slipped.

Taylor accepted the gift and beat Amos to give the Wombles the lead.

The Addicks have now dropped three points due to defensive errors in the last two matches.

The Pearce chance aside, the Addicks created little in the second period. The Dons kept a stranglehold on their opponents, and Bowyer’s side could not break free of the shackles.

It was a hugely disappointing result for Charlton, and there is now no margin for error if they are to make the play-offs.
