The pitch at Colchester’s Florence Park training ground passed an early morning inspection on Tuesday, allowing the match with Charlton’s title seeking youngsters to go ahead.

The pitch was heavy and the strong wind made conditions tricky but th young Addicks made light of the conditions. They ran out comfortable 4-2 winners to keep on course for the title.

Joshua Emerah and Ademola Lookman both netted a brace.

Charlton: Beeney; Bokciu, Yao, Konsa, Barnes; Bone, Kelly, Lapslie, Hanlan; Umerah, Lookman.

Subs: Thomas, Simpson, Sarpong, Millar, Carey.

Goals: Umerah 2, Lookman 2.

The club will reveal the new home kit for 2015/16 later this week. Traditionalists will be disappointed that the kit will again feature red shorts.

The shirt will be Nike’s Laser II design and will be very similar to that of the Chinese national team:

The Addcks use three kits these days, which Nike dictate have to be changed every season.

One of the away kits will be all white, with a diagonal red sash on the shirt.

The other will be purple and very similar to the purple kit Manchester City use for away cup-ties.

The club signed up to a four year deal with Nike that will expire at the end of next season. Charlton will not be renewing the deal.
