Charlton’s reward for beating Truro on Sunday is a trip to AFC Wimbledon in the Second Round of the FA Cup.

It is not the draw either club wanted, but both will fancy their chances of getting through to the Third Round.

Ben Reeves has hit a rich vein of scoring form recently. He scored in the Checkatrade Trophy game against Fulham Under-21s last week, and added two more strikes against Truro on Sunday.

Reeves’ season has stuttered due to some niggling injuries, and Karl Robinson has intergrated him back into the team gradually.

This is what he had to say after the final whistle:

“The main thing was for me to find my feet a little bit in these games. Obviously, it’s been a disappointing start to the season but hopefully now I can kick and this is just the start of it.
“It’ll be nice if I can keep this tally up by the most important thing for us is the results in the league.

“If that means I’m involved then brilliant and if we are still getting results but I am not involved then that is brilliant as well.

“I’ll be fighting to force my way in and I’m sure the rest of the boys will too. The main thing is, we stick together and do it as a team.”

Reeves then paid this tribute to Truro:

“They’re a good side with some good attacking players and some physical players at the back as well.

“It was a good contest – we would have liked it to have been a bit more comfortable, but in the end, it was a good cup tie.

“Normally a goal knocks the stuffing out of a team but the way they came back was credit to them. They kept fighting until the end.”

The Addicks’ hectic November schedule continues on Tuesday, when Portsmouth visit The Valley for the final Checkatrade Trophy group match.

Though Robinson’s side are safely through to the second phase of the competition, they will be keen to get a result against Pompey.

If they can avoid defeat, Charlton will be guaranteed a home tie against one of the Southern section runners-up.

Robinson will make use of his fringe players and is likely to field a similar team to the one that faced Fulham a week ago. Though neither Reeves nor Mark Marshall are likely to feature.

Nick Kinseley from Essex will be the man in the middle.
