Addicks prepare for lunchtime kickoff

Charlton’s game with Preston this week will be screened live by Sky‎. The game will be played on Sunday and kick-off at midday.

Preston are one of the surprise packets of the Championship this season – they currently sit in second position.

But so tight is the division, that an Addicks win at The Valley on Sunday would see them move level on points with their visitors.

Most interest will be focused on Patrick Bauer’s return to his old stomping ground. With his late, late goal against Sunderland that clinched promotion‎ at Wembley in May still fresh in the mind, Bauer is assured of a warm Valley welcome.

His four years in SE7 were successful enough for Preston to offer him a contract that was too good to turn down.

But it is at the other end of the pitch where Lee Bowyer’s side will have to be most vigilant. Preston are the Championship’s top scorers, netting 27 times in their 14 matches.

Their front pairing of Jamaican international, Daniel Johnson, and Tom Barkhuizen have scored 15 times between them in all competitions this season.

‎Bowyer has played with three central defenders recently. Bauer’s replacement – Tom Lockyer – and Naby Sarr have played either side of Jason Pearce or Darren Pratley.

Preston’s success has been based on solid home form, they have been more vulnerable on the road.

If Charlton’s rearguard can keep a tight grip on the Preston front two, they will have the platform to go on and secure the three points.
