Addicks looking to strengthen strike force
Addicks looking to strengthen strike force

Charlton are reportedly among a clutch of‎ clubs chasing Stevenage striker, Dan Newton.

The Liverpool born front man is also interesting Championship duo, Blackburn and Queens Park Rangers, as well as Bradford, Burton and Fleetwood from League One.

‎Newton is 27-years-old and this is his debut season in the EFL. Until signing for Stevenage last summer, Newton had played his entire career on the Midlands non-league scene.

He was a virtual ever present in his first season at Stevenage, making 38 starts in the league, plus a further ‎7 from the bench. Newton scored a respectable 14 goals.

Newton’s strike partner at the Lamex – Matt Godden – ‎came desperately close to joining the Addicks a year ago, but apparently Stevenage increased the fee late on.

Godden looked set to complete a switch to Peterborough recently, but the player could not agree persona terms with Posh.

He is 26-years-old, Canterbury born, scored 14 goals in all competitions this season, and a Charlton fan.

Godden is out-of-contract, which will be reflected in his wage demands.

Could the Addicks be poised for a double swoop on Broadhall Way?
