Addicks handed away cup tie

Charlton have been drawn away to Colchester in the Third Round of the FA Cup.

The match s likely to be played on Saturday 9 January, with a 3.00pm kick-off.

Cup matches are spread over four days – Friday to Monday – these days. There is no chance of the match being televised, so unless there is Police intervention, it will be played on the Saturday.

Colchester beat Altrincham 3-2 on Sunday, thanks to a stoppage time winner from Charlton loanee, Callum Harriott.

Harriott’s loan at the Weston Homes Community Stadium will end before this game is played. Karel Fraeye is a known admirer of Harriott, and has travelled to Colchester to watch the winger in action.

The U’s are keen to hold on to Harriott, but Fraeye will insist he returns to The Valley.

The Charlton Under-21 team avenged the 1-0 defeat the Under-18s had suffered at the hands of Queens Park Rangers two days earlier, when they recorded a 1-0 win at Harlington on Monday afternoon.

A Brandon Hanlan goal on the stroke of half-time, was enough for the Addicks to stretch their unbeaten run to eleven games, ten of which have been won.

Charlton: Mitov; Barnes, Konsa, Thomas, Edwards; Charles-Cook, Kelly, Ariba, Moussa; Hanlan, Umerah.

Subs: Beeney, Yao, Hayden-Smith, Bone.
