Charlton’s reward for beating Swindon is a trip to the London Stadium to face West Ham in the second round of the Carabao Cup next week.

‎If they are successful, the Addicks will host the winner of the Leeds v Hull game in two weeks time.

The Covid 19 restrictions will deny Charlton fans the chance of watching their team playing in the London Stadium for the first time.

The league campaign kicks-off at Crewe on Saturday. It is 21-years since Lee Bowyer’s team last visited Gresty Road.

They have won all four previous encounters with the Railwaymen, and Bowyer will be confident of extending that run.

Attention will be on the Court of Appeal in Manchester on Tuesday afternoon. If the ruling goes against Paul Elliott, Thomas Sandgaard should be able to complete his takeover of the club quickly.

Much travelled central defender, Joel Lynch, is currently training with the club. Eastbourne born Lynch is 32-years-old.
