Addicks announce retained list

Charlton have offered new contracts to Joe Aribo, Patrick Bauer, Jake Forster-Caskey and Tariqe Fosu.

Nicky Ajose, Mark Marshall, Josh Parker, Ben Reeves, Igor Vetokele and Jonny Williams have all been released.

‎It has been an emotional roller coaster for Bauer recently, his wife recently gave birth to his daughter, then there was the Wembley win over Sunderland.

After the Wembley game Bauer said how much he was looking forward to next season, which gave Addicks fans hope that he may stay at The Valley.

But C‎harlton will have one of the smallest. budgets in the Championship, and the big German is being pursued by Blackburn, Hull, Preston, QPR, Reading and Wigan.

Bauer has enjoyed his time at Charlton, likes living in the area, but made no secret of the fact ‎that he wanted to play Championship football next season.

The Addicks’ promotion has given him the option of extending his stay in SE7, but there is little doubt he could earn more money elsewhere.

Aribo also has his fair share of admirers, including a number from the Premier League. It would be a pleasant surprise if he was still at the club come August.

Fosu did not feature in Lee Bowyer’s plans at the end of the season, but his contract offer means Charlton will be entitled to a development fee if he moves on.

There were no real surprises in the six players released, though Williams’ departure is purely financial.

The Welshman will have offers in the summer, but if he is willing to take a hefty drop money wise, Bowyer would love to keep him.
