New kit and new season for Canterbury
New kit and new season for Canterbury

This weekend we see the start of the new hockey season and Canterbury Hockey Club is kicking off with a new kit partnership with adidas and Specialist Sports Ltd. Canterbury Kit Launch - Ady Kerry

On Saturday, both the clubs men’s and ladies 1st XI will be playing in the new kit at the first home game of the season on against East Grinstead at Polo Farm Sports Club.

The bespoke kit is based on the new adidas T16 range launched at the Rio Olympics and although remains the traditional white and green colours of Canterbury Hockey Club, it is stylish, practical and complements the particularly youthful 1st XI squads.

Mel Clewlow and Lee Hare (Chairs of the Hockey Clubs) said: “There is no better brand that is synonymous with quality and support for hockey than adidas, and we are proud to have them on board and pleased for the support they are providing particularly for our 1st XI’s.”

Gus Oates, Chairman of Polo Farm Sports Club, added: “This partnership with Specialist Sports Ltd, working with the vast range of sporting facilities we have on offer here, is a stepping stone to the outside world and shows that we are not a minority sport in Canterbury. This partnership is just another step forward in our vision, to continue to provide and improve the vast range of sporting facilities we have available here for Canterbury and the local community.”Canterbury Kit Launch 2 - Ady Kerry

As adidas Hockey official distributors, Specialist Sports Ltd, through James Hook and Richard Mantell, have been impressed with Canterbury’s setup that continues to see children from as young as five, participating in hockey, tennis and cricket, and have joined with us to push forward our vision for the future.

The recent Olympic gold medal winning GB ladies team has encouraged children of all ages to participate and Canterbury Hockey Club had over 300 children attending on the first mornings coaching session of the new season.
