Welling Utd v Lincoln City preview

Welling United will be hoping they can enjoy another electric Tuesday night following another disappointing away day defeat.
FOOTBALL (WELLING HOME)

Although they put in an excellent performance at Wrexham over the weekend, they returned home empty. For the majority of the game, they were in control but a highly contentious sending off changed the game, and the hosts scored in the 83rd and 85th minutes to steal all three points.

Even the winning goal was tough on the Wings when a speculative shot took a horrible deflection to leave new goalkeeper, Jon Henly, with no chance.

Whilst it is far too soon to panic, it would ease Welling’s situation if they could put a good run of results together and they now have two consecutive home games in which they will be looking to extend their unbeaten run at Park View Road.

Lincoln City, Welling’s next opposition, also suffered disappointment on Saturday when Bristol Rovers claimed a last minute winner in a 3-2 victory at Sincil Bank.

Away from home, the Imps have won two and lost two. They claimed 2-1 wins at Altrincham and Barnet before losing 3-2 at F.C. Halifax Town and 3-1 at Woking. Goals appear to come at both ends in Lincoln games. After starting with a goal-less draw they have scored 16 times but conceded 18 in the following eight games.

When the teams met at Park View Road last season, the Wings prevailed with a hard earned 1-0 victory courtesy of Jake Gallagher’s 53rd minute goal.

Jon Nouble will be forced into missing this season’s match as a result of his exceptionally harsh dismissal on Saturday but Joe Healy returned off the bench and will be pressing for a place in the starting line up. Harry Beautyman, who has been outstanding this season, was forced into an early exit at Wrexham and Jamie Day will hope that he recovers in time to play against Lincoln.

Last Tuesday, Welling enjoyed the atmosphere of a floodlit Park View Road evening and will be looking to recapture the form and claim another three vital points.
