Welling United v Bromley preview

Tuesday evening at Park View Road promises a match full of intrigue as Welling United entertain Bromley.

FOOTBALL (WELLING HOME)

A few weeks ago, this would have appeared to be an away banker but now there are just five points between the two teams.

Although the gap has closed in the league table, there are differences in styles of play that could make this an enthralling match up as the teams play their nearest geographical opposition in the Vanarama National League.

Whilst the Wings have not scored more than two goals, or conceded more than two in any game this season, the Ravens are the league’s leading scorers. However, they have also conceded more than any team outside the bottom four.

In September, Bromley cleaned up in the Vanarama National awards. Mark Goldberg won the manager of the month prize for six wins from six games and the player of the month award went to Moses Emmanuel who scored nine times during the period.

Emmanuel is the league’s leading goalscorer on 12 goals, but will be remembered by Welling supporters as Moses Ademola. He made four league appearances for the Wings, scoring once, when on loan from Brentford in the 2008-09 season.

Added interest comes in the fact that when Welling manager Loui Fazakerley had a short spell as a player at Bromley, Goldberg was manager so they should know a little about each other.

Those who think that the manager of the month award can be unlucky will have further ammunition by Bromley’s 4-0 defeat at Tranmere Rovers on Saturday. To make matters worse, Lee Minshull was dismissed and will miss the next three matches, starting with the game at Welling.

Meanwhile, the Wings were extending their winning streak with a 1-0 victory at Kidderminster Harriers who are still searching for their first success this season. George Porter scored the only goal, his first for the club, as Welling enjoyed a second consecutive clean sheet.

It promises to be an exciting game with both teams likely to be going all out for the win.
