Welling United 3-3 Woking

Despite scoring three excellent goals, Welling United had to settle for a point against Vanarama National League South league leaders Woking.

Two goals from Thierry Audel had helped Welling to a three-one lead but Reise Allassami’s brace off the bench got Woking out of jail.

Audel’s first goal came after fourteen minutes when he rose to head home Gavin McCallum’s corner.

Then two minutes later he scored again. Brendan Kiernan skinned Josh Casey and crossed from the right and Audel showed great technique to volley home via the far post from twenty yards.

Four minutes later, Woking pulled one back when Casey atoned by pulling back for Christian Jolley to finish.

It could have been two all when Anthony Acheampong recovered from clearing off the line to block Moussa Diarra’s shot.

Zack Newton broke away and timed his pass perfectly to find Bradley Goldberg but he shot beyond the far post.

Armani had a free kick saved easily by Dan Wilks before Welling scored a third just before the break. Kiernan’s first touch allowed Goldberg an opportunity to beat Casey and cross. Kiernan controlled it well and twisted to fire into the top corner.

Immediately after the interval, Goldberg created a great opportunity when cutting in and letting fly but his shot was deflected wide.

McCallum then came close when he had a shot that hit a defender before going for a corner, and then failing to hit the target with a header from Newton’s cross.

Having started a move, Arnaud Mendy sliced his shot wide before Goldberg pulled back to McCallum but he again failed to hit the target.

Acheampong was next to try his luck but a defender made a superb block to send it over the bar at the cost of another corner.

Six minutes after coming on Allassani pulled one back. He brought down a long ball and made space to turn and fire into the top corner.

Casey had a shot saved easily but Welling looked quite comfortable until conceding again as the game went into injury time. Another substitute, Harvey Bradbury was the creator with a low cross that Allassani bundled home via the post.

Kiernan and Julien Anau both had shots saved by Craig Ross but they had to settle for a point.
