Tonbridge Angels 0-2 Leatherhead
Tonbridge Angels 0-2 Leatherhead

With little for either side to play for this was about pride and serving up an entertaining match for their respective supporters and to a large extent the Angels and the Tanners did just that.

On a perfect surface both sides were able to play a passing game and with intelligent running off the ball plenty of chances were created although it was Leatherhead who got the vital strikes and generally deserved the three points.

On 30 minutes Nathan Elder and Joe Turner for Tonbridge forced a double save from Emmanuel Agboola, Leatherhead’s keeper and from the resultant corner Elder had the ball in the net but it was disallowed for pushing.

Leatherhead took the lead in the 41st minute with Tom Derry neatly converting Nathan Wood’s cross past Angels stopper Jonny Henly.

Four minutes after the restart Derry was through but Henly brought him down in the area but then made amends by saving the spot kick. Moments later at the other end Liam Smith forced a great save from Agboola but it was the visitors who doubled their advantage in the 61st minute with a defence splitting move that ended with Dan Gallagher getting the vital touch.

The home side continued to try for the breakthrough but in truth it was the visitors who always looked the likelier to score using both flanks to good advantage. Despite the open nature of the play the score remained the same with at the final whistle both set of supporters applauding their teams off the field for an entertaining game and for their efforts over the entire season.
