Rallycross celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2017, and there’s only one place to be over the weekend of 27-28 May.

Lydden Hill in Kent is the spiritual home of rallycross and hosts round five of the FIA World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy.

A bumper entry of Supercars was released recently since when ticket sales for the two-day event have gone through the roof. Among the quality line-up racing in Kent are double World RX champion Petter Solberg, nine-time World Rally Champion Sebastien Loeb, reigning WRX champion Mattias Ekstrom, Ken Block of Gymkhana fame, former BTCC and British junior rallycross champion Andrew Jordan, and twice BRC champion Guy Wilks.

With the British round heading to Silverstone in 2018, this year’s event at Lydden marks the last this decade and expectations are that this will be a record-breaking year. Alongside World RX, European Super1600 and the newly re-branded RX2 one-make support series will be on the bill. To help celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of rallycross there will also be a special demonstration of rallycross cars through the ages.

Lydden Hill spokesperson and multiple British Rallycross Champion Pat Doran explains: “Ticket sales so far have exceeded our expectations, thanks in no small part to the fantastic entry that World RX has received. Two of the best British rallycross racers Andrew Jordan and Guy Wilks will both be appearing at Lydden and at this rate the event could end up being ticket-only. We’re incredibly proud to be hosting World RX of Great Britain in the 50th year of rallycross and look forward to welcoming the teams, drivers, world media and fans here in May.”

Regarded by many as THE event to go on the rallycross schedule, general advanced tickets to World RX of Great Britain are available with a £5 reduction, and children under 12 are admitted FREE.
