On Saturday, Kent Sports Trust ambassador Charlotte Evans MBE and member of the board of trustee’s Angie Sandys cut the ceremonial ribbon at the Tudor Park Marriott Hotel & Country Club, Maidstone, to formally launch the Kent-based not-for-profit organisation.

Medway-based 2014 Winter Paralympic skiing gold medal winner Evans and Sandys were joined at the ribbon-cutting ceremony by Kent Sports Trust CEO Steve Wolfe and his colleagues.

During the afternoon, guests at this Kent Reliance-sponsored official launch event were able to learn more about Kent Sports Trust’s objectives and to meet four of the trust’s incredible roster of ambassadors.

In addition to Evans, 2014 Women’s Rugby World Cup winner Rachael Burford, Team HARD Racing owner Tony Gilham, and Sport Relief ‘100 Sports in 100 Days’s Liu Batchelor were on hand to support the Kent Sports Trust team in Maidstone.

Among the many businesses, sports associations, sports clubs, voluntary groups, community organisations, and supporters in attendance were representatives from Kent Sport, Medway Sport, the Kent FA, Nike, Demelza Hospice Care for Children, Thomson Snell & Passmore, and LEBC.

“Kent Sports Trust is about changing lives through sport,” Wolfe said. “Sport has enriched my life, so I want to use our team’s passion for sport to inspire others.”

“The money we raise is ploughed back into the Kent community, into schools especially, to get young people active and turn things around for them before there’s a decline in activity.”

Evans added: “It’s so important for children to have a focus, to have something about which they can be passionate.”

“Hopefully, my fellow Kent Sports Trust ambassadors and I can give them and others a passion for sport through the trust.”
