The Spitfires will be aiming to reach the last four of the 50-over competition, which would set up a semi-final at home to either Northamptonshire or Surrey, who are also playing tomorrow.

Standing in their way are Yorkshire, who travel to the Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence recognised as perhaps the strongest county side in the country. Their 15-man squad features a number of well-known international players, including the likes of England stars Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, Gary Ballance, Adil Rashid, David Willey and Liam Plunkett.

Kent have pedigree on their own to call from. Both Daniel Bell-Drummond and Joe Denly have performed particularly strongly with the bat in the competition to date, while Sam Billings will be looking to press his ODI claims with an eye-catching performance in front of the Sky Sports cameras.

Matt Coles is named in the home squad, with the 26-year-old currently sitting top of the list of wicket-takers in the competition so far, with 21 victims to his name.

Charlie Hartley is also included for the Spitfires, having taken 2-23 in his only appearance in the competition so far this season. The 22-year-old took the man of the match award in Kent’s win over Gloucestershire during Canterbury Cricket Week. Sean Dickson is another named in the 12, having made 99 in defeat against Middlesex at Lord’s in his only limited-overs showing of 2016 so far.

David Griffiths misses out for Kent with a calf injury, while Fabian Cowdrey is also absent as he continues his recovery having had surgery to remove his appendix last month.

Spitfire fans’ favourite Darren Stevens, currently in his benefit year with the club, is set to make his 500th appearance for Kent in all forms of the game in front of a near-sold out Canterbury crowd. The 40-year-old has taken 567 wickets and scored nearly 18,000 runs since moving to Kent from Leicestershire in 2005.

Both Kent and Yorkshire are featuring in the quarter-finals of the One Day Cup for the third year in a row, though the sides have not met in any competition since 2012, when Kent came out as comfortable winners in a 40-over clash at Headingley.

Kent Spitfires vs Yorkshire Vikings starts at 2pm at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence tomorrow (Thursday 18 August 2016).
