Six new players at Cray Wanderers

Cray Wanderers have been busy looking to add quality to the side for the challenge of the Bostik South East following playoff heartbreak last season and six new players have signed for the club in the last two weeks.

On Thursday the club announced the signing of former Charlton Athletic and Leyton Orient Midfielder Bradley Pritchard. Bradley comes to Cray from Greenwich Borough and has featured in four of the pre-season games so far.

Bradley started out in non-league football with Carshalton Athletic, Nuneaton Borough, Tamworth and Hayes & Yeading United where he played 46 games scoring 14 goals. In the 2010-11 season he went to Charlton and played 79 games scoring three goals and was a member of the Addicks 2011-12 League One title winning side.

In May 2014 he signed for Leyton Orient where he played 60 games, scoring once. He was released in May 2016 and signed for Greenwich Borough for the 2016-17 season and played 89 games at the DGS Marine Stadium scoring once as Borough reached the Isthmian South playoffs twice.

Cray Wanderers have re-signed Sean Roberts to the club. Sean who played 95 games for Cray between 2015-17 was a member of AFC Hornchurch’s Bostik North title winning last season. Sean adds great energy and tackling ability to the Wands midfield.

The Wands have also signed midfielder Tom Phipp to the club. Tom who has played for Ebbsfleet United, Margate, Tonbridge Angels and Crowborough Athletic and adds top quality to the midfield. Tom spent some time out of the game to complete his Marketing Degree & is an intelligent & gifted player.

Another signing, Mitchell Nelson has re-signed for the club after being released towards the end of last season.

The experienced central defender made 47 appearances scoring 6 goals and part of a defence which conceded 18 goals last season.

Mitchell started out as a youth player at Colchester United and has played for Tooting & Mitcham United, Eastleigh, Lincoln City, Sutton United, Margate, Dulwich Hamlet, Welling United and Tonbridge Angels.

Another eye catching signing is that of left back Matthew George to the club.

Matt started out at Crystal Palace before signing for Lewes in 2016 and was a member of their Bostik South promotion winning side last season.

Another classy addition to the defence & gets forward well. Welcome to the Wands Matthew.

Finally Jerome Federico has returned to the club.  Former Kingstonian & Hampton & Richmond Borough player Jerome played for Cray last season making 25 appearances scoring three goals as a winger before being released in January.

Key players to depart the club in the summer were skipper Lea Dawson who went to Ashford United, experienced striker Charlie MacDonald to VCD Athletic, Michael Freiter to Lordswood and striker Luke Medley who has taken over the manager’s role at Greenwich Borough.
