Sittingbourne 0-3 South Park
Sittingbourne 0-3 South Park

South park came to Sittingbourne with the second best away record in the League & from today’s performance you could see why as the comprehensively beat Sittingbourne who will probably say it was a bad at the office.

South Park came out of the blocks the quickest & enjoyed a lot of possession & in the 7th minute they could have been in front when James McElligot in the area saw his shot cleared of the line by Laurence Ball, seven minutes later another chance came when a free kick into the area saw Kieron Lavery’s header 15 yards out saved by Daren Hawkes.

South Park were in total control with Sittingbourne relying on breakaways which did not happen often. In the 25th minute Lavery on the edge of the area passed it out wide for his partner Chris Smith who from 10 yards at an angle saw his shot whizz across the goal & go out for a goal kick.

Park were now spurning chances as in the 36th minute Dean Lovegrove went into the area & his cross found Lavery but he headed wide, another free kick in the 40th minute saw Lavery again head wide but in the 42nd minute they finally got the goal they deserved when McEliigott’s low cross into the 6 yard area saw Smith side foot in.

The second half continued like the first with South Park dominating possession & creating chances but to be fair to Sittingbourne they did a lot better than the first half but still only troubled the keeper on a couple of occasions.

In the 48th minute Lavery running towards the edge of the area saw his shot parried away by Hawkes but only to McElligott who from 15 yards saw his shot saved, a minute later Jack Mazzone 20 yards saw his effort pushed around the post by Hawkes, from the resulting corner which was headed back from the back post into the 6 yard box for Luke Elliott but he couldn’t get his feet right as his soft shot was cleared by Hawkes.

In the 51st minute they doubled their lead when a cross into the area saw Mazzone on his own head in from 8 yards. Sittingbourne nearly got a goal back in a rare attack in the following minute when Tom Loynes in the area jinked one way & then shot just past the far post with Dylan Merchant beaten.

South Park were now creating chance after chance as in the 58th minute Mazzone on the right cut in & played McElligott in but again his shot went past the post.

In the 61st minute Lavery & Smith combined on the edge of the area leaving Smith clear 10 yards out but again the shot went just past the post.

The third goal came in the 69th minute when the ball was played into the area for Smith who controlled it & from 6 yards shot home.

The rest of the game saw South Park going through the motions knowing they had got the three points while Sittingbourne did not give up but knew it was not their day.
