Season finale for Oman Racing

It is the season finale of the Blancpain Endurance Series this weekend at the Nurburgring and the Oman Racing team will be looking to finish the GT racing season on a high.Oman Racing20

The Motorbase-run Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 driven by Ahmad Al Harthy, Michael Caine and Stephen Jelley faces another fantastic entry of GT3 cars in the hugely competitive championship and team boss David Bartrum is resolute that his Kent-based squad will get the chance to show its full credentials ahead of plans to run an extended two-car team in the 2015 championship.

With a stunning entry list including cars from Bentley, Porsche, Ferrari, Audi, Nissan, McLaren, Mercedes and BMW as well as Aston Martin, the six hour race is set is deliver an unforgettable finale to what has been a challenging campaign for the Oman Racing Team.

Across the four Blancpain Endurance Series races to date, the number 44 Omani-backed car has shown impressive pace but that speed has not yet yielded the results worthy of the team’s efforts.

Heading into the final round of the season off the back of two successful rounds in the Avon Tyres British GT Championship, the newly crowned British GT Teams’ Champions has every reason to be in
confident mood as it heads to Germany. After a quick turnaround following Sunday’s British GT final at Donington Park, the Oman Racing Team Aston Martin is back in perfect race condition and all set to deliver a strong finish in the 1000km race at the home of the German Grand Prix.

Speaking ahead of the season finale, Team Principal David Bartrum said: “Nurburgring is the last round of Blancpain and we haven’t had the results this year that our pace has deserved. In the last round, the 24-hour race at Spa, things didn’t exactly go our way in the race but the team once again showed its strength. The car was rebuilt, never missed a beat at shakedown went straight out in British GT and finished second at Brands Hatch and that’s the car we’re taking to the Nurburgring.

“The plan is to try and get a good result at the Nurburgring and set ourselves up for next year in Blancpain. We’re looking to go to two cars next year in the Blancpain so we’re looking for drivers to go in the second car.

“We’re staying with Ahmad and his sponsors and partners and looking to keep two cars running in the British GT as well. It would be good to get a decent finish at the Nurburgring, but it is important for us to finish the race as well after the disappointment of Spa. A good finish in Germany would be a great way to end the season.”
Saturday’s free practice session is scheduled to start at 9.10am (CET), followed by qualifying from 17.15. Sunday’s six hour endurance race starts at 11.45am (CET) with live streaming of the entire race available online at www.blancpain-gt-series.com/live
