Scott suffers a Roller Coaster season opener

Kent based Super 1600 hopeful Darren Scott headed to his home circuit of Lydden Hill for round 2 of the Toyo Tires MSA British Rallycross Rallycross Championship.

The Pitek supported driver was looking to put the tough first round behind him. Since the first round the front end of his Citroen C2 has been totally rebuilt.

Scott got off to a blistering start in Qualifying 1 and was leading his heat into the final corner, when the engine suddenly went into limp mode losing the him the heat win. He was still able to bring the car home in fifth overall. Later inspection revealed an overheating problem which the team got straight to work and got Scott back out ready for the remaining qualifying heats where he would notch up consecutive second fastest times.

Gaining him pole position for the second Semi-final which after a red flag incident he drove to a convincing win and earning him a front row start for the final.

The final itself was action packed seeing Scott record the fastest lap time of the race. He narrowly missed out on the top spot by less than half a second, however a solid outing and a great result seeing Scott climb up to second place in the championship.

The championship now moves on to the third round and visits Pembrey Circuit in Wales for the first visit of 2017. Racing is on the 25th June starting at 9:00am.

Darren Scott, #25: “It’s been a great help having the whole team there helping all weekend I couldn’t have done it without them. The car was great and to finish 2nd in the final is a great result for us as a team I’m now looking forward to the next round in Wales knowing we can be on the pace “
