QPR 3-3 Charlton Athletic

Charlton returned to action on Saturday morning, when they played QPR in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Rangers’ Harlington training complex.

Both clubs fielded completely different sides in each half‎, and the game ended level at 3-3. The Addicks took the lead on three occasions, only to be pegged back each time.

New boy, Lyle Taylor, aquitted himself well, and he put the Addicks ahead after ‎29 minutes. Tariqe Fosu delivered a low ball from the left, and Taylor slid in to prod the ball home from close range.

Eberchi Eze levelled for Rangers ten minutes later. Eze took the ball into the area, feinted left before firing a right-footed shot past Dillon Phillips.

‎Phillips had to make a smart save in stoppage time to foil Eze. The keeper tipped the ball over, but from the resultant corner, Charlton broke.

Igor Vetokele showed quick feet in the area before firing past Joe Lumley to give the Addicks a 2-1 half-time lead.

A long ball found Conor Washington free in the box after an hour, and the big striker despatched it past Maynard-Brewer to tie things up again.

‎Eight minutes from time, Karlan Grant – he dropped the “Ahearne” part of his name during the summer – floated a corner in from the left.

The hosts failed to clear, allowing Patrick Bauer to place a precise header in the far corner of Matt Ingrams’ net.

Rangers squared things up for a third time, five minutes from time. This time it was Charlton who failed to decisively clear a corner.

It was eventually played back in ‎for Alex Baptiste to head home.

It was a good performance on a hot and humid day.

‎The Addicks will be happy with their performance, there were plenty of positives for Lee Bowyer to take from the game.

‎Charlton play their first public warm-up game at Welling next Saturday.
