Positive start to season for Nevill
Positive start to season for Nevill

Following his 2018 championship win in the Mini Challenge Cooper Am class, Alex Nevill made his Cooper Pro debut at last weekend’s opening round of the Mini Challenge season at the Snetterton Circuit in Norfolk.
A tough qualifying session in wet conditions on Saturday morning saw Alex qualify 8th in class for the first race of the weekend, as other competitors used newer wet tyres to their advantage. Race 1 took place later on in the day, and was shortened from 15 minutes to a 7 minute sprint following an accident at the initial start of the race. Leaving very little time in the race to gain positions. Alex finished in 7th after losing positions on the first lap following a mistake on cold tyres.

Sunday saw Alex start from Saturday’s finishing position of 7th for the second and final race of the weekend. After an intense opening period to the race Alex climbed to 5th position and the first of the rookies new to the Cooper Pro class for 2019. Bringing the weekend to a positive close.

Following race 2 Alex was in an upbeat mood. “Our first weekend in the Cooper Pro class has proven to be a steep learning curve, but it was good to end it on a positive note by being the top rookie in the second race. We’ve learnt a lot over the course of the weekend and I’m looking forward to working our way towards the front of the pack as the season progresses.”

Alex will next be in action at Oulton Park in Cheshire on the 15th June for rounds 3 and 4 of the Mini Challenge.
