Kevin Parrish has called for more consistency and commitment from the Invicta Dynamos despite registering a four point weekend.Kevin Parrish

Wins against Solent & Gosport and Bracknell Hornets have seen the Dynamos climb to fourth in the National Ice Hockey League South with six league games left to play this season.

However, Parrish has been left frustrated by his side despite five wins on the trot with players not always able to attend training or games, although he was happy to have secured two wins, albeit not by the performance from his side:

“It was a four point weekend and that’s all we can really say about it. It was a lacklustre performance on Saturday and the same again on Sunday.”

“Both teams probably pushed us more than we could have expected. Solent were good for a game on Saturday and Bracknell pushed us all the way and at the end they could have nicked something.”

“We want to be as high up in the league as we possibly can and fourth is now realistic. We want to finish the season as high as we can, but our preparation hasn’t been ideal.”

“We’ve had players not turn up for training, but there’s nothing we can do about it when players are ill, injured or have work commitments. They don’t get enough expenses, so you can understand it and I believe we’re not the only team struggling with it.”

With just the six league games left to go this season and an unbeaten cup run, Parrish is hoping the Dynamos can finish the season strongly and wants the side to cement their play-off place whilst hopefully ending the campaign with some silverware:

“We need to get something out of this season and we’ve just got to keep going until the end. We’ve had problems with injuries and suspensions this season, so we’ve got to make sure we do the best we can.”

“The lines have been a bit jumbled up this season and it’s shown, but we’ve just got to take it one game at a time and see where we go.”

Parrish is already looking at next season and told KSN how a couple of players will be leaving the club this month:

“We’ve started looking at the next year and where we are going as a club. We’ll sit down over the next few weeks and see what players are available, what players want to come back and see what players are leaving or retiring.”

“Joe Bliss has decided he won’t be playing for the rest of the season, which is a shame. He has great potenital, but if his heart’s not in it, then there’s no point having him on the roster.”

“Unfortunately, Callum Best will also be going and that might be a shock to people. He told me last week that he couldn’t play because of a foot injury and then I found out he was away in Switzerland this weekend skiing.”

“That’s not good enough for me and I’ve also found out that he’s broken his collarbone, so I’m not very happy at the moment.”

With Bliss and Best departing the club, Parrish is hoping the players he still has on the roster show the level of commitment to the cause to see them finish the season in style:

“We’ve shown that we can beat the likes of Chelmsford and Romford, but it all comes down to preparation. When you’re facing the likes of Romford, you have to turn up to training, listen to everything and go through our plans for the weekend.”

“We can’t just have nine guys turning up for training. At the start of the season everyone signed a contract saying they were willing to play for the whole year.”

“If they’re not, I’d like to know now and we can go down to the 10 or 11 guys that have been there for most of the year.”

The Dynamos are in action just the once this coming weekend when travel to Chelmsford Chieftains in the league on Sunday night.

They are next back at home on Sunday 10th March when they face Romford Raiders in the league, just 24 hours after playing them away in the cup.
